Yes, that’s it – the
Klein Bottle. A non-orientable surface with no boundary. In fact, you can not accommodate it in 3D – it necessarily intersects itself. This, naturally, is the case for the depicted model at the
AHHAA Science Centre too. However, in 4D the intersection can be avoided. The thing glowing red is an anthill. A big one. And the photos hanging on the wall are marvellous
macros of mold by Heikki Leis.
