Entropy

Why is it always increasing (the second law of thermodynamics)? Why things break down, wear off, got lost etc, etc, etc and not the opposite happens? Why anything never repairs itself, gets better on its own, takes a fresher look etc, etc, etc? Physicists have now found a solution to this paradox: it happens but all the memories about such happy events are automatically erased. How sad :(
